‘Me, My Mind and I’ children’s book.
This is a project close to my heart that is a current WIP. I first created the book for the Creative Conscience competition in 2017 for which I received the Silver Award in the Illustration & Animation category. Since then I have recently been working on updating the project to make it the best it can be and also to reflect my current illustration style.
‘Me, My Mind and I’ is a thoughts and feelings activity book for children to help teach them about different emotions and learn ways to deal with them. I think it’s important for children to understand and feel comfortable with their emotions at a young age to then be able to grow up learning to embrace negative feelings, and know ways to deal with that emotion as an adult. This can then lead to better mental health, and help people feel less ashamed to talk about how they feel. Within the book, I particularly wanted to show young boy characters in vulnerable poses such as crying or feeling worried and have young girl characters feeling angry to help break gender stereotypes.
